Rav Eytan Joffen to Join Chevron Yeshiva

chevron-yeshivaRav Eytan Joffen has been appointed as a R”M at Yeshivas Chevron in Givat Mordechai, Yerushalayim. Rav Joffen has served for many years as a maggid shiur in Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, where he led a popular chaburah comprised of many of American bochurim, who benefited from his insightful shiurim, his wide breadth of Torah knowledge, and his lively and warm persona.

Rav Eytan is closing a circle of sorts, as his own father, Rav Refoel Aharon Joffen zt”l, served as a rosh yeshiva in Chevron Yeshiva.

Rav Eytan is a great-grandson of Rav Avrohom Joffen zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Novardok in Novardok, in Bialystok, in Yerushalayim, and in New York, and a son-in-law of the Alter of Novardok, Rav Yosef Yoizel Horowitz zt”l.

Rav Eytan’s father, Rav Aharon, was a son of Rav Yaakov Chaim Joffen zt”l, author of Ner Mishpat on Maseches Sanhedrin and rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Bais Yosef Novardok in New York. Rav Aharon was a son-in-law of Rav Moshe Chevroni zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Chevron Yeshiva. Rav Aharon was appointed as a R”M at Chevron Yeshiva in the 1970s and released a number of seforim of Rishonim, including the Mosad Harav Kook edition of the Chiddushei HaRitva, among others. Rav Aharon passed away at the young age of 47.

Rav Joffen will now be joining the hanhalah of Chevron Yeshiva, replacing Rav Yitzchok Landau, R”M at Chevron who is in need of a refuah shleimah.

  1. my association with Rav Eytan has been exclusively in the realm of “”bein odom l’chavero and mishpacto”” and as much as yicuss has put its impact on him – he is one very special person that will be a great model for the talmidim-.
    A y’did from the 25th journey

  2. He is a godol in Torah and Yiras Shomayim, and a prince in Middos. I hope the bochurim in Chevron learn to emulate all these traits of their Rebbe. They are very lucky!

  3. Article should mention that Rav Eytan’s shiur in the Mir has been taken over by the Gaon, Rav Shmuel Wolman shlit”a. Rav Wolman’s shiurim have been enthusiatically received since beginning on RC Elul.
