Rav Eisemann was born in Warsaw to a family of Alexander chassidim. In his youth, he learned in Yeshivas Beis Yitzchok in the city of Kamenitz under Rav Boruch Ber Leibowitz. For a while, he also learned in the Kletzker Yeshiva under Rav Aharon Kotler, and there he met Maran Rav Elazar Menachem Man Shach, which whom he remained close.

After being subject to Polish army recruitment, Rav Eisemann fled to Eretz Yisroel utilizing immigration permits obtained through Rav Tzvi Yehuda Kook.

Rav Eisemann learned at Yeshiva Merkaz Harav, and about 70 years ago, when he was just in his low-30s, he was appointed to serve mashgiach of Yeshivas Kol Torah in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood of Yerushalayim.

His greatness in Torah and his wisdom were recognized by gedolei Torah and roshei yeshiva even in his younger years. Among his talmidim are Rav Don Segal, Rabbi Yehuda Addas, Rav Avigdor Nebenzahl, Rav Yisroel Meir Lau, and others.

Rav Eisemann celebrated his 101st birthday four months ago on 14 Iyar.

Among Rav Eisemann’s works is the sefer Gedulei Mussar, which contains shiurim of Rav Eisemann designed to strengthen, elevate, and encourage today’s bnei Torah during Elul and the Yomim Noraim.

  1. Rav Gedaliah, ztvk’l, was a talmid of the Mashgiach, Rabbeinu Yechezkel Levenstein in Kltetzk in the late 1920s. He became a close talmid and was greatly influenced by Reb Chatzkel. The earliest recorded shmussen of Reb Chatzkel are recorded by Reb Gedaliah. Some can be found in the volume REB CHATZKEL, and others were published by Rabbi Chaim Ginsburg. Reb Gedaliah’s influence on the Torah world in Eretz Yisroel is immense.
