rav-hershel-schachterThe Flatbush Bais Medrash, which sponsors the weekly Gemara shiur given by Rav Hershel Schachterwill resume its program on Monday September 8, 2014, at the Young Israel of Midwood, Ocean Avenue and Avenue L, at 8:15 PM.  Rav Schachter, renowned Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan, has delivered shiurim on a wide variety of Masechtos over the past twenty years, including Shabbos, Kiddushin, Avoda Zara, Sanhedrin, B’rachos, and most recently, Mishnayos Challah.  As the new season approaches, the talmidim eagerly anticipate the start of Maseches Sukkah.

The shiur is the best attended Gemara shiur in Flatbush, attracting serious b’nei Torah who represent a wide range of Talmidei chachamim within k’lal Yisrael – Yeshiva students, baalei batim, rabbanim, mechanchim, modern, yeshivish and chassidish.  And yet, the congenial atmosphere of the “Bais Medrash” is palpable. There is ample opportunity to ask questions both during and after the shiur, providing the attendees the chance to talk to Rav Schachter “one-on-one”.

Around Yomim Tovim time, Rav Schachter usually delivers an “inyana d’yomashiur, dealing with halachos and/or thoughts pertaining to the Yom Tov at hand.  The first such shiur for this coming season will be a T’shuva drasha, scheduled for Monday, September 29th, during Aseres Y’mei T’shuva.

All shiurim are preceded (at 8:05 PM) and followed by a minyan for maariv. Everyone is cordially invited to join the chaburah, as we embark on Maseches Sukkah.
