straussAfter years of providing kashrus supervision for Strauss products, Rav Moshe Yehudah Leib Landau, chief rabbi of Bnei Brak, has removed his hashgacha from the company’s products.

Items that were manufactured prior to the removal of the hashgacha are fine, says Rav Landau, who was the first to grant supervision to the company, making its products available to the chareidi public.

Strauss made the move public today by placing ads in several chareidi newspapers here in Eretz Yisroel. Strauss states that they “will continue to do everything strictly (l’mehadrin) to allow consumers to enjoy a wonderful variety of healthy products” – was written at the bottom of the ad exaggerated euphoria.”

The products will now be under the hashgacha of Rav Avrohom Rubin.

  1. One line says “does not have any hashgacha on its milchige products”.
The last line says, “The products will now be under the hashgacha of Rav Avrohom Rubin.”

    Which is it?

  2. This poorly written item contains a number of contradictions.

“Strauss current does not have any hashgacha on its milchige products.”

    BUT…

“Rav Landau, who was the first to grant supervision to the company, making its products available to the chareidi public.”

OK.. So if he was first, there are other Hashgachos, correct. YES! Look further….

“The products will now be under the hashgacha of Rav Avrohom Rubin.”

Although it sounds as if R’ Rubin is a new rav haMachshir, not one of the existing ones.

    Please clairify….

  3. Did you check out whether Rav Landau removed his hashgacha as your headline states or if Strauss decided to switch from one mehadrin hechsher to another? The message to the consumer is very different and you should be more careful in your reporting!

  4. Rav Rubin, who is he? BTW- The Eidah’s shoichtim eat his shechita Shhhh.
Rav Rubin was on Straus a few months. Straus decided to spread their hashgochas to a different agencies, logical business decission.

  5. Rav Rubin (together with Rav Kook) is one of the leading Hechsherim in israel that Chareidim rely on.
if one is better then the other, is a political question
