Rav Lipa Yom Tov Schechter z”l, Passes Away After Falling from Ladder

Bnei Brak was plunged into mourning with the sudden passing of Rav Lipa Yom Tov Schechter z”l of Rechov Eliyahu Hanovi in Bnei Brak after he fell from a ladder and died.

MDA teams and Ichud Hatzolah arrived at the scene and began to perform resuscitation. Eventually, an intensive care unit was called.

Effi Feldman, head of the Ichud Hatzolah branch in Bnei Brak, said, “Medical personnel at Ichud Hatzolah in Bnei Brak carried out lengthy CPR efforts in an attempt to save Rav Schechter’s life, and then a doctor and ICU staff were called and announced his petirah.”

Rav Shechter was born in Hungary to his father, industrialist and hotel owner Rabbi Yaakov Schechter, who was the proprietor of the Independence Hotel in Netanya.

Rav Shechter was a son-in-law of Rav Menachem Porush, Knesset member.

His brother is the maggid meisharim Rav Aryeh Schechter. His son is philanthropist Rabbi Zevi Schechter, one of the heads of Ezer Mizion.

About a month ago, his brother, Rabbi Tuvia Schechter, a diamond merchant and businessman who was close to the Chazon Ish, passed away at the age of 95.

The levayah was held last night at his home at 10 Rechov Eliyahu Hanovi in Bnei Brak, followed by kevurah in the Ponovezher bais hachaim.
