candle-small6It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Michoel Schloss zt”l of South Fallsburg, NY. He was in his low 60s.

Rav Michoel was a maggid shiur at Yeshiva Gedolah Zichron Moshe of South Fallsburg for many years and was a phenomenal talmid chochom who spent his days immersed in limud haTorah.

Rav Michoel was a son of Rav Chaim Schloss of Detroit, one of the founding talmidim of Bais Medrash Elyon, longtime mechanech at Yeshiva Bais Yehudah, and author of 2,000 Years of Jewish History. Rav Michoel learned at Yeshiva of Philadelphia under Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky shlita and lhbcl”c Rav Elya Svei zt”l, and later studied at Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ.

Rav Michoel was a remarkable talmid chochom, whose grasp of the entire Shas reflected his unending hasmadah and ahavas haTorah. His Talmudic acumen was matched by his sterling middos tovos and unbridled avodas Hashem. Away from the limelight, Rav Michoel devoted his life to the Ribono Shel Olam in word and in deed.

Rav Michoel is survived by his wife and children, who follow in his ways.

The levaya will be held today at Yeshiva Gedolah Zichron Moshe, located at 84 Laurel Park Road in South Fallsburg, NY. Kevurah will follow in New Jersey.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. been to many yeshivos over the years and gotta say – they mamash don’t make ’em like this anymore – such aneevus and temimiskeit not to mention hasmada and total engrossment in torah

  2. He was my tenth grade rebbi in so. Fallsburg yeshiva. He was a talmid chochom muflag. He taught us how to make a “laining” to learn the gemara on our own. And hw to “learn up” the gemara. He will be sorely missed.

  3. What a loss for Klal Israel This man was an Ish chosid in all his hanhogas. A talmid chocham muflag. May Hashem take care of his choshuve almana and children.
