rabbi-mordechai-dov-fine[Photos below.] Congregation Machzikeh Hadas of Scranton, Pennsylvania, held its annual dinner this past Sunday, January 10. This year, the shul honored the rov, Rav Mordechai Dov Fine, and his rebbetzin for their 36 years of service and commitment to the Scranton community.

Machzikeh Hadas was founded and incorporated on September 2, 1924 by a group of 7 young men and has been the premier shul in the community since then. Rav Fine and his family joined the kehillah in April of 1973 after living in Providence RI, Beverly Hills, CA, and Saratoga Springs, NY. Rav Fine heads the Scranton Orthodox Rabbinate and is involved in all major Jewish institutions as well as kashrus in Scranton. Rav Fine spends his summers as rov in Camp Raninu, making an impact both locally and nationally. Rav Fine has both enriched and enhanced the Torah community worldwide.

Rabbi Eli Hoberman was the journal chairman, R’ Alex Gans was the dinner chairman, and R’ Shlomo Fink was the toastmaster. Rav Ephraim Eliyahu Shapiro of Congregation Shaarey Tefilah of North Miami Beach was the guest speaker at the dinner.
