rav-mordechai-eliyahuRav Mordechai Eliyahu, former Sefardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, is currently in intensive care, as his condition has taken a turn for the worse. He is now in serious condition.

Rav Eliyahu’s family has asked that tefillos be recited on his behalf as he remains on a respirator and under the close watch of physicians in the Intensive Care Unit at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim who are working to stabilize him.

Back in August, the 81-year-old former Rishon Letzion collapsed at his Kiryat Moshe home. He eventually underwent emergency surgery at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center. His condition first improved, but has worsened in recent months.

A tefillah gathering in the merit of Rav Eliyahu was held today at the kever of the Chidah in Givat Shaul.

Rav Eliyahu served as Chief Rabbi of Israel from 1983 to 1993.

All are asked to continue davening for Rav Mordechai Tzemach ben Mazal l’refuah sheleimah.
