Rav Yehuda Mordechai Hakohein Krauss zt”l

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Yehuda Mordechai Hakohein Krauss zt“l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ohr Hachaim in Queens NY.

Rav Krauss was a son of Rav Avrohom Dovid Krauss zt”l, Hermenshtater Rov, and a son-in-law of Rav Boruch Rokeach zt”l, Skola Rebbe.

Rav Krauss, a noted marbitz Torah and talmid chochom, learned, in his younger years, at Yeshiva M’kor Chaim under Rav Binyomin Paler zt”l and at Yeshivas Brisk in Yerushalayim under Rav Berel Soloveitchik zt”l.

For three decades, he was the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ohr Hachaim, where he served together with Rav Doniel Lander.

Rav Krauss spent his life immersed in limud haTorah and teaching Torah. His wide-ranging yedios and scintillating shiurim enriched his talmidim, who drank from his wellspring of knowledge and were inspired by his ahavas haTorah and ahavas Hashem. His passing has plunged his yeshiva and many talmidim into mourning, leaving them bereft of a beloved rosh yeshiva, caring rebbi, and outstanding guide and role model.

The levayah will take place tomorrow morning, at 10 a.m., at the yeshiva, located at 141-61 71st Avenue, at the corner of Main Street, in Queens, NY.

Rav Krauss is survived by his devoted rebbetzin and their children.

The family will be sitting shivah at 1850 52nd Street, Apt. 1F, in Boro Park, Brooklyn.
