candle-small6 [Updated and shivah info below.] It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Moshe Bunim Pirutinsky zt”l, renowned mohel and one of the last Alter Mirrers, those who were in the Mirrer Yeshiva in Poland and travelled to China to remain throughout the war. Rav Pirutinsky learned in the Radin Yeshiva as well.

Rav Moshe Bunim was one of the most respected experts in the area of bris milah and performed thousand of brisos over the span of seven decades. He went on to author Sefer Habris, a prolific 415-page work that is an extremely thorough treatment on the topic of bris milah. The sefer is an encyclopedic compilation of halachos and minhagim of bris milah. Rav Pirutinsky’s sefer contains haskamos from gedolei rabbonim, including Rav Chaim Shmulevitz, Rav Yitzchok Hutner, Rav Yaakov Yitzckok Ruderman, Rav Mordechai Gifter, Rav Moshe Feinstein and Rav Shneur Kotler, demonstrating the high esteem with in he was held.

Rav Pirutinsky was niftar this morning and levaya details are being finalized.

He leaves behind a family of bnei and bnos Torah and respected talmidei chachomim, and descendants who follow in his illustrious ways.

Rav Pirutinsky is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leah Pirutinsky, and his children, R’ Yehuda Yeshaya Pirutinsky, R’ Yaakov Yonah Pirutinsky, R’ Schneir Zalman Pirutinsky, R’ Raphael Pirutinsky, R’ Baruch Kopel Pirutinsky, Mrs. Baila Jacobowitz, Mrs. Esther Stern, Mrs. Sarah Rosengarten and Mrs. Fayga Rochel Dicker.

The family will be sitting shivah at 11 12th Street, corner of 12th Street, in Lakewood.

The levaya will take place this Motzoei Shabbos, Parshas Toldos, at 6:45 p.m., in Bais Medrash Kol Shimshon in Lakewood. The niftar will then be taken to JFK Airport at 9:30 p.m., Alliance cargo area B, Building #23, and kevurah will be held in Eretz Yisroel.

  1. Baruch Dayan Haemes. He was a great tzaddik. I know some of his descendants and they definitely emulate his ways. May their zechus be an aliyah for his neshama.

  2. bdh. i have no words but let me just tell you one thing he wasnt only superb in milah not only in hasmada not only in yiros shomayim he was what the gemara says “im reshonim c’malochim ….” literally!!! a maluch not wasting a second in his long life for anything but avodas haborey!

  3. Baruch Dayan HaEmes – he was my son’s Mohel on a Shabbos – his second Bris of the day – walking an hour each way. May he have a Lichtege Gan Eden.
