Rav Moshe Mordechai Chodosh, rosh yeshivah of Yeshivas Ohr Elchonon in Yerushalayim, who has been battling serious illness on and off for months was re-hospitalized overnight at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Yerushalayim and is in need of a refuah sheleimah.
The rosh yeshiva has been in and out of the hospital, and in and out of his yeshiva as a result, for months.
He recently underwent a series of harsh treatments and then returned to his daily routine. However, he again felt unwell and was thus taken to the hospital once again. Apparently, the disease returned with a vengeance and the rosh yeshiva will have to again undergo chemotherapy.
Following the deterioration in his condition, tefillos are being recited in yeshivos the world over and a special atzeres tefillah was held at the Kosel.
Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon was founded by Rav Simcha Wasserman zt”l is led by Rav Chodosh, who was appointed by Rav Simcha to carry on Rav Elchonon Wasserman’s legacy.
The network of Ohr Elchonon yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel was founded by Rav Simcha upon his arrival in Eretz Yisroel over 30 years ago.With the enthusiastic backing of Rav Moshe Feinstein, the Steipler Gaon and Rav Elazar Menacem Man Shach, Rav Simcha established Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon in the Ezras Torah neighborhood of Yerushalayim. Rav Simcha headed the yeshiva but asked Rav Meir Chodosh, the legendary mashgiach of the Chevron Yeshiva, to serve as mashgiach, and his son, ybl”c Rav Moshe Mordechai Chodosh, to serve as rosh yeshiva.
The yeshiva expanded to include its main branch in Yerushalayim, with hundreds of talmidim, and three other branches, in Tiverya – the first successful yeshiva in Tiverya in over 70 years, in Rishon L’tzion, and in Kiryat Brachfeld in Modiin Illit. Rav Moshe Mordechai serves as rosh yeshiva of all of the yeshivos and has appointed his talmidim, students of the original Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon some 30 years ago, to serve as maggidei shiur in the satellite yeshivos.
All are asked to daven for Rav Moshe Mordechai ben Tzivya Leah.
