It is with great sadness that we report the passing of He was 97.
Rav Amsalem was born in Algeria, where he lived for many years. He then resided in France, where he served as a rov in Leon and drew many Jews closer to Torah.
Rav Amsalem was a brother-in-law of the Baba Sali, Rav Yisroel Abuchatzeira, whose wife, Rebbetzin Miriam, was Rav Amsalem’s sister.
Twenty years ago, Rav Amsalem moved to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Har Nof, Yerushalayim, where he established the Ohr Yaakov v’Yisroel shul.
The levayah is scheduled to be held today at his home in Har Nof.
