It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Nochum Eisenstein zt”l, longtime rov of the Forest Park Shul, Tiferes Yosef, in Lakewood, NJ. He was 75 years old.

Rav Eisenstein was a noted talmid chochom and marbitz Torah, whose leadership and ahavas haTorah inspired many people during his lifetime.

A devoted talmid of Rav Nosson Wachtfogel zt”l, mashgiach of Beth Medrash Govoha, Rav Eisenstein released the shmuessen of Rav Nosson in the popular Kovetz Sichos.

Rav Eisenstein was a boki in many areas of Torah, and had a grasp of yedios in some of the lesser-studied areas, such as zemiros Shabbos, on which he released a sefer that is acclaimed for its insights.

For many years, Rav Eisenstein’s divrei Torah in English were published as a column in the American Yated Ne’eman.

For the last half decade, Rav Eisenstein battled illness. His passing today has plunged his mispallelim in Forest Park and the great Torah community into mourning.

Rav Eisenstein is survived by his rebbetzin, Mrs. Naomi Eisenstein, and their wonderful family.

The levayah will be held tomorrow, Erev Shabbos, at Bais Medrash Tiferes Yosef of Forest Park, located at 2 Forest Park Circle in Lakewood, NJ, at 10 a.m. Kevurah will follow at the East 7th Street Bais Hachaim in Lakewood.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. BDE. I believe that Rav Nachum Zt’l put out the Kovetz Sichos of the Mashgiach’s Shmoozen. Leket Rishimos was Rav Reuven Hexter

  2. A real Gadol that many didn’t know about…. even in his latest years he never sat even for a minute by yomim noraim tefillos. He was a real ish emes who wanted to serve Hshem his entire life without an ounce of recognition. It’s a different world today than it was yesterday

  3. A real Gadol from Amol. Never sat for a minute the entire yomim noraim tefillas even in his later years. A true ish emes that only sat kol yamav in Torah and avoda with nothing else lishma without an ounce of recognition

  4. Baruch Dayan Haemes. How he would greet the kids at the bus stops that he passed on his morning walk with such a warm “good morning”

  5. On this Holy day of Lag B”Omer, on the Yartzhei of Rashbi, we lose 3 tremendous pillars of Klal Yisroel… HaRav Eisenstein, HaRav Shatkes, and HaRav Mendy Klein!
    Torah, Avoda, U’Gemilas Chasadim…

The loss of each one of these GIANTS themself is tremendous, let alone all 3… gevalt!

May Hashem give their choshuve families comfort along with the strength needed to carry on their storied legacies.

May Hashem allow for a Kapara to all of Klal Yisroel in their merit, along with Rashbi, to bring Moshiach B’meheira!
