Rav Refoel Shmulevitz Hospitalized

The has been a deterioration in the health status of Rav Refoel Shmulevitz, rosh yeshiva at Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, who has been hospitalized at Shaare Tzedek Medical Center in Yerushalayim Sunday evening.

Rav Shmulevitz was taken to Shaarei Tzedek after he began suffering from a high fever. With fear of him having contracted an infection, doctors at the hospital imediately began antibiotic treatment.

In recent years, Rav Shmulevitz has been hospitalized several times, especially as he suffers from ALS.

Rav Refoel is a son of Rav Chaim Shmulevitz zt”l, the legendary rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim. He is well-known as one of the most brilliant Torah minds of the generation. As previously reported by Matzav.com on several occasions, Rav Refoel is one of the few individuals tasked with reviewing the monumental Encyclopedia Talmudis, whose volumes do not go to print without his review and approval.
