Heading from Brooklyn, NY, to Lakewood, NJ, for an evening parlor meeting, the car in which Rav Shlomo Feivel Schustal was traveling spun out of control on what is believed to have been a patch of black ice.
The streets in New York and New Jersey were snow- and ice-covered, and traffic was slow-moving on most roadways due to the inclement weather.
Rav Schustal, who is the rov of Bais Medrash Avreichim of Flatbush and rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Gedolah Torah Temimah in Brooklyn, was headed to Lakewood to attend a parlor meeting for Mesivta Torah Temimah of Lakewood, a branch of the Brooklyn yeshiva. The Lakewood institution is headed by Rav Binyomin Margulies, rosh mesivta, a son of the founder and rosh yeshiva, Rav Lipa Margulies.
The gathering took place at the home of Yaakov Nissan Friedman.
Rav Schustal was delayed for several hours due to the spin-out and was not able to attend the event, arriving in Lakewood a number of hours later than expected.
Boruch Hashem, all occupants of the vehicle were unhurt.
