Rav Shimon Gabai zt”l


rav-shimon-gabai1It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Shimon Gabai zt”l of Netanya, a major figure in the teshuvah movement in Eretz Yisroel. Rav Gabai, who was 63, was responsible for bringing thousands ofYidden closer to the Ribono Shel Olam and to renewed observance of Torah and mitzvos. He passed away suddenly last night after attending the Ariel asifas rabbonim at the Ginosar Hotel in northern Eretz Yisroel.

Rav Gabai was the rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe in Netanya, and also headed mosdos Nachlas Shmuel and Ohr L’Tzion. He devoted four decades of his life to the spreading of Torah and Yiddishkeit in the community, and was known as a tremendous talmid chochom, whose warmth and ahavas Yisroel ignited the pintele Yid in countless neshamos.

The levaya will take place at Rav Gabai’s yeshiva, Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe, located at 40 Rechov Ben Eliezer, at 1:30 p.m. Kevurah will follow at the Shikun Vatikim Bais Hachaim. The family will be sitting shivah at the rov‘s house, at 4 Rechov HaGra.
