  1. Sorry, but you are wrong. The correct halacha when davening for a rav is to say “Avdecha Rebi Ploni ben Plonit” without any extra titles such as “Maran”, “HaGaon” “Morenu” etc.

  2. “in davening for a choleh the prefix rav should not be used

Do you know something, draye? I am more than convinced that HaShem would not be overly bothered whether or not prayers for the sick are prefaced by the title “rav”.

Yet another example of people getting so bogged down in the minutiae that they totally forget the ikar.

  3. #4 Look at Yalkut Yosef siman 116. Also Sefer Chasidim #800. R’ Akiva Eiger o”c 119:1. Birkei Yosef y”d 240:4. Minchas Chinuch mitzva 297.

#5 You could have heard all the gedolim in the world use whatever titles they want to say. However, the halacha remains the same. Ein Gevahot lifneu HaMakom, and therefore we do not add titles.

I also doubt the gedolim you heard use titles are greater in Torah than the Minchas Chinuch, Rav Akiva Eiger, the Chida, etc.. So YOU are “verey wrong.”

Our Torah is available for everyone to go and learn it and look up sources. And that is how it is meant to be learnt. NOt to be thrown around “I heard this” “I heard that” and specifically not “I saw a ruv do this.” Open up a sefer and learn.
