Rav Shraga Wilman zt”l

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Shraga Hakohein Wilman zt”l at the age of 91.

Rav Wilman felt fine Friday night and ate his seudas Shabbos without incident. Shabbos morning he awoke to daven kevosikin. A short while later, he passed away.

Rav Wilman, who resided in Bnei Brak, published and released dozens of seforim of the Rishonim in revised, enhanced editions, including the Chiddushei HaRashba, the Tosafos HaRosh, Tosafos Rabbeinu Peretz, and others.

Rav Wilman was a highly regarded talmid chochom who spent his years immersed in Torah learning. He was also a great baal chessed, opening his home to all Yidden and pursuing chesed opportunities. In addition, he was involved in fundraising for yeshivos and mosdos haTorah, helping numerous institutions who were honored to be assisted in this manner by such an outstanding talmid chochom, whose honesty was unparalleled.

Rav Wilman was predeceased by his son, Rav Meir Wilman z”l, about 23 years ago, and his daughter, Mrs. Esther Rockove a”h, about 13 years ago.

Rav Wilman leaves behind a family of bnei and bnos Torah following in his ways. His wife, Rebbetzin Yuspa, is a daughter of Rav Shmuel Greineman zt”l. Her brother, Rav Chaim Greineman zt”l, passed away about two months ago.

The levaya will be held today, Sunday, at 6:30 p.m. from Rav Wilman’s home at 10 Rechov Imrei Boruch in Bnei Brak, followed by kevurah at the Shomrei Shabbos Zichron Meir Bais Hachaim.
