rav-shteinmanDespite his weakness and frailty, Maran Rosh Yeshiva Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman traveled from Bnei Brak to Yerushalayim to attend the levaya of the  great gaon Maran Rav Ovadiah Yosef zt”l.

Because of his weakness and the difficult trip from his home, Rav Shteinman didn’t deliver a hesped, but in the car he spoke of the greatness of Chacham Ovadiah and the magnitude of the loss of this Torah giant.

“This is a great loss to the entire Jewish people and to the Sefardic world in particular,” he said.

“Rav Ovadiah has the tremendous zechus of bringing tens of thousands of Jews and their families close to their Father in Heaven.

He called the petirah an “aveidah gedolah ve’atzumah,” a staggering, giant loss.

Because of the immense traffic, police officers were needed to escort the rosh yeshiva’s vehicle through the standstill to and from the levaya.
