Rav Shteinman Cancels Siyum Appearance After Feeling Faint, Siyum Tomorrow L’illui Nishmas Reb Amos Bunim zt”l

rav-aharon-leib-shteinmanMaran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman had been scheduled today to attend a Siyum Hashas at Yeshiva Bais Matisyahu in Bnei Brak but cancelled after feeling weak. Rav Shteinman had already left his house on Rechov Chazon Ish en route to the yeshiva when he felt faint. His driver immediately turned around and brought the rosh yeshiva back to his home at 5 Rechov Chazon Ish to rest.

Tomorrow, a Siyum Hashas is schedules to take place at Yeshiva Orchos Torah on Rechov Shlomo Hamelech in Bnei Brak, where Rav Shteinman serves as the senior rosh yeshiva. That Siyum Hashas will be held in memory of the late Reb Amos Bunim zt”l on his first yahrtzeit. Reb Amos, himself a remarkable and inspiring individual, was a son of the legendary Mr. Irving M. Bunim zt”l, noted lay leader of Orthodox Jewry. Reb Amos was a prominent Torah activist and served many times as a faithful emissary of many gedolim.

Noted askan Reb Shimi Glick, a son-in-law of Rabbi Bunim zt”l, has traveled to Eretz Yisroel to participate in the Siyum Hashas, which will be held during bein hasedorim so as not to disturb the regular sedorim of the yeshiva.

It is not clear if Rav Shteinman will be able to attend the Siyum Hashas tomorrow, but it is hoped that he will have the strength to do so.
