Rav Yaakov Edelstein, the venerated rov of Ramat Hasharon who has been hospitalized at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer for the last month, is slated to undergo surgery Purim morning.

The procedure is expected to begin at about 7 a.m. and take a few hours.

Rav Edelstein, 93, was taken to the hospital last month after experiencing difficulty breathing. Since then, he has been battling a number of maladies.

Meanwhile, yesterday, Rav Edelstein was visited by the Dorger and Nadvorna Rebbes.

As reported last week, when Rav Chaim Kanievsky visited Rav Edelstein at Tel Hashomer, they discussed Rav Edelstein’s recent request that people daven for him using the name of his grandmother, as brought in Kabbolah.

All are asked to continue davening for Rav Yaakov ben Miriam ben Gittel.

  1. Please clarify.
    “…ben Miriam ben Gittel”
I have never seen anything like that.
    2 mothers?
Mother’s mother (maternal grandmother) added for some reason? -then it should be: … ben Miriam bas Gittel
Please post clearly the correct name.
I have also heard that one specifically should not mention “Rav” by a choleh. Please ask your Matzav authorities and clarify that as well.
