A melava malka was held at Agudath Israel of Long Island to honor the rov of the shul, Rav Yaakov Reisman, who is retiring after almost 30 years of service.

Over 500 people, including almost all of the rabbonim of shuls in the Five Towns, attended the event.

The guest speaker was Rav Avrohom Ausband, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva of Telshe Alumni of Riverdale. Rav Reisman and Rav Ausband have been friends for more than 50 years and attended Telshe Yeshiva together.

Mr. Simcha David, president of Agudath Israel of Long Island, remarked, “The love and admiration that the rov has for his kehillah and the kehillah for the rov was clearly evident. It was testimony to over 29 years of leadership and individual relationships that the rov has formed, spanning many generations of mispallelim. We look forward to continuing those relationships as the rov takes on the role of rabbi emeritus.”
