rabbi-yaakov-stefanskyIt is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Yaakov Stefansky zt”l, longtime maggid shiur at the Yeshiva of Philadelphia, who passed away early this morning. The levaya will take place today at 10:45 at the Yeshiva of Philadelphia, located at 6063 Drexel Rd in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At 12:30, the levaya will leave to Lakewood, NJ. Kevurah will take place at the bais hakevaros located off East Seventh Street in Lakewood near the Congregation Sons of Israel Holocaust Memorial Chapel.

Rav Stefansky, who served as a R”M in the Philadelphia Yeshiva for over four decades, was known for his trademark smile, warmth, and genuine simchas hachaim, which complemented his yedios haTorah and bikush ha’emes. He was a truly special human being, and his passing leaves hundreds of talmidim bereft.

Rav Stefansky took ill earlier last year and had been at a health care facility in Lakewood where he was niftar.

He is survived by his wife, Rebbetzin Rochel Leah Stefansky, and his children, Rabbi Aharon Stefansky (Lakewood), Rabbi Tzvi Stefansky (Manhattan), Rabbi Refoel Stefansky (Lakewood), Rabbi Yosef Chaim Stefansky (Lakewood), Mrs. Frumi Feig (Long Beach), Mrs. Shoshana Werner (Lakewood), Mrs. Esti Marcus (Belle Harbor), Mrs. Michal Lopian (Lakewood), Mrs. Suri Feuer (Lakewood), Mrs. Tziporah Goldblatt (Lakewood), Mrs. Batsheva Gross (South Fallsburg), and Mrs. Nechama Privalsky (Lakewood), and grandchildren who all follow in his footsteps.

May he be a melilitz yosher for his entire family and all of Klal Yisroel.

Yehi zichro boruch.
