rav-yisroel-hagerRav Yisroel Hager, eldest son of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Bnei Brak, delivered a fiery shmuess in honor the beginning of the spring/summer zeman to bochurim at the Vizhnitzer Yeshiva in Brachfeld.

Rav Hager delivered divrei chizuk and hisorerus and discussed ways for the bochurim to strengthen themselves in ruchniyus.

Rav Hager sharply attacked the Israeli chareidi daily newspapers, specifically telling the boys “not to read ‘Hamevaser,’ ‘Hamodia, etc.”

He also said that bochurim should not possess cell phones which can do great spiritual damage to them, and he added that there is an absolute issur to go to Miron on Lag Ba’omer [because of what goes on there -ed.].

He related that everything he was saying was in the name of his father, the Rebbe.

Following his drasha, the hundreds of bochurim greeted him personally and also wished him mazle tov on his 65th birthday, which fell on Monday.

  1. I’m surprised that Ger and other yeshivot didn’t make a formal announcement about it. Unless we assume that all their bachurim already know not to read the news – even charei ones like hamodia and mevaser – and not to have any cellphones.

  2. They expect their boys to know NOTHING of what goes on in the world? I don’t understand how this can be good for them. Also why ASSUR something that the klal cant keep to. People want to and need to be informed of what is going on around them. Its really unfair to expect them to not read papers. Bad enough they wont have an education. At least they will know something about the world. Not everyone is going to kvetch the bank for many years.

  3. FIND OUT WHAT SOME OF THE BOYS ARE READING VIA THE INTERNET AND THEN OUR SHTREIMELS WILL FALL OFF OUR HEADS
AND THEN WE’LL REALIZE THAT THE HAMODIA IS PERFECTLEY FINE TO READ

  4. “… absolute issur to go to Miron on Lag Ba’omer [because of what goes on there -ed.]”

So what’s going on in Miron on Lag Ba’Omer?

  5. If they haven’t got the smallest clue of what the world is all about, how are any supposed to make parnosoh after they marry when they need to feed their wife and children?

The Belzer Rebbe has the right idea. Everyone has got a chiuv to do hishtadlus and try to earn a parnosoh like R’ Yochanon Hasandler clearly showes.

If they don’t make any effort to try to support themselves, then I don’t believe we have any chiuv to give the Tzedakah. If they try and fail, then at least they have done their hishtadlus and of course they should be given Tzedakah. But shortsighted views like this are ridiculous!
