candle-small6It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Yisroel Moshe Berman zt”l, a longtime mechanech and rebbi, and former menahel of Yeshiva Karlin Stolin Elemetary School in Boro Park. Rav Berman, who resided in Boro Park, for many years taught Mishnayos to boys during the afternoons at his home, helping them finish sedorim of Mishnayos and gain yedios haTorah. A master mechanech and teacher, he lived a life totally devoted to Torah and avodas Hashem, and possessed a unique nature that endeared him to his young talmidim, as well as anyone who came in contact with him.

The levaya will be held this afternoon at Shomrei Hachomos Chapels, located at 4218 Fort Hamilton Parkway in Boro Park.

Rav Berman is survived by his children, including Rabbi Eliezer Berman of Boro Park.

Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.

Yehi zichro boruch.

  1. Baruch Dayan Haemes…he was my principal in Stolin…he was a really great mechanech. You really felt connected to the past generations when you listened to him.

  2. as mentioned, Rav Berman learned Mishnayos with boys, including me, when I was in elemtary school. During the afternoons, boys who did not go to English spent their afternoon at his hosue instead. I was zoche to finish Shisha Sidrei Mishnah because of him. Yehi zichro boruch.
I believe he was in his mid 90s.

  3. As a humble Talmid of the Heilige Rebbe – all I can say is Yehi Zichro Boruch!
The geshmak in learning that I have today comes from the two hours a day I sat and learned from him b’eima b’yira b’reses ub’zeah. He was unparalleled in explaining a difficult concept with clarity. The chazarah we did at all times reinforced our knowledge. His Yiras Shomayim and Dikduk Hamidos were legendary. He was a perfect Mechanech. I will never forget how fortunate I was to be mekabel from him.
    Mi yitain lanu temurosoi!!!
