rav-yitzchak-yosefYerushalayim – B’chasdei Hashem, the condition of Chacham Ovadiah Yosef continues to improve, but he is still is a very serious state.

“The medical staff reports continued improvement in the rav‘s breathing since the breathing tube was removed two days ago,” a spokeswoman for Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital said.

Chacham Ovadiah’s condition continues to be serious but stable as he is remains under close watch in the intensive care unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem.

Meanwhile, doctors have ordered Chacham Ovadiah’s family to minimize their visits, which cause great excitement for him and can be bad for his health.

Rav Ovadiah’s son, the Rishon L’Tzion, Sefardic Chief Rabbi Rav Yitzchak Yosef, said in his weekly shiur, “I think that the situation is good, but it is still very serious. He still cannot speak. I was with him on Thursday at 11 p.m. and he was asleep. Then he suddenly woke up, he looked at me and he smiled. They told me that it had been a long time since he had smiled. He wanted to speak but could not.”

Rabbosai,” continued Rav Yitzchak, “it is not a simple [situation]… We have seen great miracles. The doctors told us two weeks ago that he was in a terrible situation: Rav Bakshi and Rav Elbaz [were there] and did not stop crying. But, baruch Hashem, there are miracles. We must not let up in tefillah…”

All are asked to continue davening for Rav Chaim Ovadiah Yosef ben Georgia,

  1. Can someone please clarify whether “Yosef” is actually part of the name for tehillim in addition to the Rav’s last name? I keep seeing his name written this way and it is confusing…especially since I saw it in at least one place as only Chaim Ovadiah.

  2. TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!
