The renowned yeshiva is led by its roshei yeshiva, Rav Mordechai Yaffen, Rav Yaakov Drillman and Rav Yisroel Tzvi Nekritz.

  1. “Rav Aaron Lichtenstein, a talmid of Rav Yitzchok Hutner…”

First off Matzav, his name Rav Aharon Lichtenstein.

Secondly, he is also a talmud of Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik (his father-in-law) and Rav Aharon Soloveitchik (his wife’s uncle and Rosh Yeshiva of Brisk in Chicago).

  2. Rav Yitzchak’s father studied under Rav hutner ztl before he turned 16, after which he became a talmid muvhak of HaGaon R. Joseph B. Soloveitchik ztl. he would talk fondly of rav hutner in shiur, commenting that he and rav aharon solveichik ztl were role models for him because he could never imagine approaching the rav ztl.

  3. Rav Aaron Lichtenstein, Rav Yitchok’s father, entered Yeshiva Rabbeinu Yitzchok Elchonon(YU) at age 17. He was a talmud muvak of the Rabbi Soloveitchik, took his PH.d. at Harvard, and married his daughter.

  4. The article describes Rav Yitzchak Lichtenstein’s father, Rav Aharon Lichtenstein as a talmid of Rav Yitzchak Hutner. However, Rav Lichtenstein spent much more time learning at Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan as a talmid muvhak of Rav Yosef Dov HaLevi Soloveitchik – so much so that he married his daughter! It seems quite strange that this article highlights Rav Aharon being a talmid of Rav Hutner and glaringly omits the fact that he was a leading talmid of Rav Soloveitchik.

  5. R’ Joffen’s rebbitzen, ironically, is a professor of Jewish Studies at Columbia, just as R’ Hutner’s rebbitzen was a professor of Jewish Studies at Columbia. Both Rebbetzen Dr. Elisheva Carlebach and Rebbetzen Dr. Hutner were talmidot chachamot in their own right.
