Rav Yitzchok Zev Chevroni zt”l, Nosi of the Chevron Yeshiva


candle-small6It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Rav Yitzchok Zev Chevroni zt”l, longtime nosi of the Chevron Yeshiva and a son of the Chevroner rosh yeshiva, Rav Moshe Chevroni zt”l.

At about 2 p.m. this afternoon, the talmidim at Yeshivas Chevron in Givat Mordechai learned of the petirah.

Rav Yitzchok Zev devoted his heart and soul to the yeshiva, ensuring that its growth could be accommodated and worrying about the vitality of this respected mosad haTorah.

Despite his prominent position, Rav Yitzchok Zev was a humble person who greeted all people warmly. He was a true ohev Torah and was was viewed as a great source of inspiration to the rabbeim and talmidim of the yeshiva.

In recent years, Rav Yitzchok Zev suffered from Parkinson’s disease. As Rav Yitzchok Zev’s health worsened, his son, Rav Yosef, took his place and was also named as one of the roshei yeshiva.

Today, after the prolonged illness, Rav Yitzchok Zev’s neshama returned to its Creator.

Rav Yitzchok Zev is survived by his children and grandchildren, including his son Rav Yosef, a rosh yeshiva at Chevron, and his son-in-law, Rav Aryeh Zolty, a son of Rav Bezalel Zolty zt”l, rosh kollel in Givat Mordechai. Rav Yitzchok Zev’s brother-in-law, Rav Hillel Zaks, serves as rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Knesses Yisroel in Modi’in Illit.
The levaya took place this afternoon at the Chevron Yeshiva in Givat Mordechai and kevurah took place on Har Hazeisim.
