rav-ovadiah-yosefToday, shortly after noon, Chacham Oavdiah Yosef, head of Shas’ Moetzes Chachmei Hatorah, met with a group of IDF soldiers to prepare them for Yom Kippur and share words of inspiration for the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah. Rav Yosef delivered a shiur on hilchos teshuvah at the gathering, which was held a Bais Haknesses Yad Shalom in Maalot Dafnah in Yerushalayim.

At the shiur, held exclusively for members of the Israel Defense Forces, soldiers looking to grow and uplift themselves gathered to listen to Chacham Ovadiah – Sefardi soldiers alongside Litvishe ones, Teimanim next to Ashkenazim.

For about an hour, the soldiers, in IDF uniforms, listened attentively to Rav Yosef’s words. After the shiur, the soldiers related how inspired they were.

“It was a tremendous chizuk,” said one soldier. “I wish we could schedule regular shiurim with the rav,” he added.

Another soldier said: “I never saw Rav Yosef before. It was invigorating. I listened to every word of the rabbi and had great hana’ah.”

Several few months ago, Rav Yosef commented during his weekly shiur that “our soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces give their lives for their own people, entering the lion’s den. We owe them our blessings…  We need to daven for them … Our soldiers – each one – are worth an entire world.”

This morning, in related news, a data survey conducted by TGI revealed that 71.5% of youngsters in Israel fast on Yom Kippur.

  1. How about the huge aveirah by sending Jews into a manufactured war (just to give away every prisoner they capture and every piece of land we have) that Hashem didn’t command. Better we should daven for Moshiach and that Jews should stop throwing their lives away for nothing.

The survey is wrong, btw. Go to Tel Aviv and see if you can find a restaurant that’s not open nebuch.
