It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Zev Tikotzky zt”l. He was 88 years old.

Rav Tikotzky came to the U.S. after the war and went to Lakewood, becoming a talmid of Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l at Beth Medrash Govoah. He served for decades as a maggid shiur in New York and later relocated to Lakewood.

Born in Germany, Rav Zev was a son of Rabbi and Mrs. Avrohom Yehudah and Mrs. Rochel Tikotzky, who during the war escaped Germany for Shanghai.

After the war, the Tikotskys immigrated to the United States, where Rav Zev joined Rav Avrohom Kalmanowitz’s Mirrer Yeshiva and then joined Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood to learn under Rav Aharon Kotler.

He married his wife, Rebbetzin Rivka, nee Finkel, and Rav Zev learned in kollel in Lakewood and then at Kollel Gur Aryeh at Yeshivas Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin in Brooklyn.

Rav Zev served for many years as a maggid shiur at Mirrer Yeshiva.

Some 40 years ago, he relocated to Eretz Yisroel and served as a maggid shiur at Yeshivas Itri in Yerushalayim, before returning to the United States and becoming a maggid shiur at Adelphia Yeshiva in Adelphia, NJ, and then Yeshivat Mikdash Melech in Brooklyn.

Rav Tikotzky is survived by his devoted wife, Rebbetzin Rivka Tikotzky; their children, Rav Moshe Tikotzky, Rav Aron Tikotzky, Reb Avrohom Tikotzky, Reb Yossi Tikotzky, Rav Gavriel Tikotzky, Rav Eli Tikotzky; Mrs. Rochel Finkelstein; Rebbetzin Chana Leah Kotler, wife of Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoah; Mrs. Liba Weiss, Mrs. Shifra Krancer, and Mrs. Michal Hendler; and many grandchildren.

The levayah will be held at 4 p.m. at Beth Medrash Govoah, located at 617 Sixth Street, between Private Way and Lakewood Avenue, in Lakewood, NJ. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.
