My brother Kivi (Akiva Shamai ben Ahava Rivka) has been in a coma (PVS) now for six years. His accident occured during these sheloshes yemei hagbala, the days leading up to Shavuos.
Kivi’s passion and devotion for Torah and the Jewish people has always been an source of inspiration for me and for everyone who knows him. In the past two years, my family and I have been grateful for the thousands of people who have joined us in our Kivi Shavuos Learning Project in order to keep the fire of his Torah study going among the Jewish people when he is unable to do so.Whether or not you had been planning to study Torah this Shavuos night, we would like to ask that you try to learn at least a little Torah as a merit for Akiva Shamai ben Ahava Rivka. If you are planning to learn, it would be wonderful if you could add just a little bit of extra learning on his behalf. Please have in mind that it should be a merit for a refuah shelaima b’karov, a quick and complete recovery for him.
