aharon-floransIt is with great sadness that we report the passing of Reb Aron Florans zt”l of Flatbush Brooklyn.

Reb Aron was one of the last remaining alter Mirrers, having learned in the Mir Yeshiva in Europe.

Born in Baranovitch in 1919, Reb Aron learned for three years at the Baranovitch Yeshiva under Rav Elchonon Wasserman Hy”d. He then joined the Mir Yeshiva in Poland, travelling with the yeshiva as it escaped the Nazi inferno during World War II and settled in Shanghai, China.

Reb Aron ultimately immigrated to the United States, where he and his rebbetzin raised an upstanding family of bnei and bnos Torah. Reb Aron’s bond with the world of Mir was lifelong, and he perpetuated that connection by living near, and davening and learning at, the Mirrer Yeshiva in Flatbush for some 50 years. He maintained a close kesher with the roshei yeshiva and the ramim at the Mirrer Yeshiva.

Reb Aron is survived by his wife of 60 years and a family following in their ways, including their 7 sons, all of whom are bnei Torah and baal chessed in their respective communities.

The levaya will be held at 2 p.m. at Midwood Chapels, located at 1625 Coney Island Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn. On the way to JFK Airport, the aron will pass the Mirrer Yeshiva at Ocean Parkway and Avenue R. The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisroel for kevurah there.

Yehi zichro boruch.
