mordechai-gerber[Video below.] Bnei Brak – The levaya of Rav Shmuel Halevi Wosner zt”l turned tragic when a yungerman, caught in the massive crowd, was trampled to death.

Over 100,000 people attended the levaya in Bnei Brak Motzoei Shabbos.

Reb Mordechai Gerber z”l, a 27-year-old avreich and father a three-year-old child from Elad, was inaccessible to paramedics because of the crowd.
Many others were injured at the levaya.

The incident took place at about 1:30 a.m. Reb Mordechai suffered injuries to his chest and stomach. He was taken to Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center in Bnei Brak, where he was pronounced dead.

Three people were severely injured and were treated at Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva and Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer. Two of them, including a 14-year-old boy, were in critical condition.

Magen Dovid Adom said that over 100 people were treated for injuries.

After the aron was being taken from Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin, the procession went down a staircase to the street. The numbers of people going down created pressure that caused some to fall, while those behind them were unable to stop, trampling several people beneath them.

  1. THIS IS A HUGE WAKE UP CALL TO US ALL THAT PEOPLE COULD LOWER THEMSELVES TO THE ANIMAL LEVEL BY BEING SELFISH AND CARELESS

  2. What a chillul Hashem to talk like this about Jews. Nobody was selfish and careless. Moti z”l was part of the tons of people who wanted to be close to the mita and unfortunately he was trampled on. This is a huge wake up call for all of us to do tshuva and be more careful not to push.

  3. This story is so upsettingly sad that I can not imagine our culture is evolving. This is a day of strict mourning compounded by even more.

Where do our values come from if we are so restricted that we have forced aggressive showings at funerals?

Clearly, there is an issue in Israel.

  4. yes definitely a shame and disgrace. the mind set of some, to give Kovod Hames to a great Godol Hador, at the same time, be so careless and unconcerning with another Yid.

What comes to mind R”L is “Mitzvah Habaah M’Averah” as the Rambam writes, “Sheretz Beyodoy” (A man wants to purify himself by going to the Mikve and has a Sheretz in his hand… disqualifying any purities at all.. just in total vain) A yid, a Talmid Chochom, WE KILL HIM,, BECAUSE OF WHAT,,, yes shame on all of your who are responsible for this,

    Totally insulting

  5. While some pushing does occur to get close to the Aron (or Mitah) of a Godol , that was not the cause of the unfortunate tragedies that happened in this case , there was C’V no “stampede to get close to the Aron” like some news sights & individuals are trying to portray…..It was poshut poor planning , a crowd of that size should not have been allowed to enter the building & they should have had the stairway cleared before entering it with the Mitah….L’Maaseh they entered the stairway with the Mitah when the it was jammed with people & that’s what caused the great tragedy , ????? ????? ?? ??? ?????? ????? ?????? ???? ?? ?????
