Reb Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz Announces $1 Million Donation at Bonei Olam Dinner

shlomo-yehudah-rechnitzThe special guest speaker at Bonei Olam’s dinner last night at Ateres Chaya Hall in Boro Park was Reb Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz, recently installed International Board Chairman of Bonei Olam.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda, one of our generation’s most noted philanthropists, askanim and baalei tzedakah, recently joined the leadership of Bonei Olam, whose mission is to help couples experiencing infertility realize their dreams of enjoying these special moments. Bonei Olam was founded by a group of individuals who themselves experienced the hardships of infertility and its mission is to provide funding for all aspects of fertility treatments, thus relieving couples of the financial, emotional and physical stress resulting from infertility. Bonei Olam has developed a strong and dedicated network of doctors and fertility centers across the world, enabling them to offer unsurpassed medical and financial assistance to all applicants.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda, in his heartfelt remarks last night, described his admiration for this remarkable organization. He then announced to a stunned crowd a donation to Bonei Olam of a staggering $1 million.

The announcement was greeted with cheers and a standing ovation by the attendees at the dinner to benefit Bonei Olam’s legendary work in assisting couples struggling with infertility.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda also serves as chairman of the Chofetz Chaim Heritagehttp://matzav.com/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif Foundation, among his many other positions of leadership. Over the years, he has made historic financial contributions to such well-known institutions as Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, the Kamenitzer Yeshiva in Yerushalayim, and Torah Umesorah for its Sandy Relief Fund. Reb Shlomo Yehuda is also the president of Yeshiva Toras Emes of Los Angeles.

Reb Shlomo Yehudah has spent years in the healthcare and medical supply industry, using his hatzlachah to better the Torah world, both in his local Los Angeles community and beyond.

Reb Shlomo Yehudah is a son of Reb Yaakov Rechnitz and a son-in-law of Rav Yisroel Belsky, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas, posek of the Kashrus Division of the Orthodox Union, and one of the gedolei haposkim in North America.

The 42-year-old Reb Shlomo Yehuda, as a bochur, attended Mesivta of Long Beach in New York and then Yeshiva Mir Yerushalayim. In 1998, he incorporated TwinMed, LLC in Los Angeles with his twin brother, Yisroel Zev. He is also the owner of Bruis Healthcare Services, the largest nursing home provider in California.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda spends half of his day overseeing the Shlomo & Tamar Rechnitz Charitable Foundation. He and his wife distribute funds to over 1,100 institutions yearly. He is known in the Los Angeles area for opening his home every Motzoei Shabbos to listen to the needy and to hand out tzedakah.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda donated $5 million to Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim in November 2011 when the rosh yeshiva, Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel zt”l, was niftar, leaving the yeshiva with $15 million in debt. Reb Shlomo Yehuda donated $5 million to support the yeshiva and encourage others to come to its aid. Soon after Reb Shlomo Yehuda’s donation, others followed suit and the debt was paid in full within three months.

In December 2011, Reb Shlomo Yehuda purchased a creditor’s note against Chabad of California’s headquarters in Westwood for $2.35 million in order to help the organization avoid foreclosure.

After Hurricane Sandy, Reb Shlomo Yehuda gave $1 million to aid in the rebuilding of Jewish day schools and to assist the families whose children attend those schools.

In 2012, Reb Shlomo Yehuda heard about Diane Aulger, a mother of five in North Texas who had her labor induced few weeks early so that her husband could meet their daughter before he died from pulmonary fibrosis. Upon hearing the story, Reb Shlomo Yehuda personally phoned Augler himself and sent her $20,000.

In 2012, Reb Shlomo Yehuda and his brother were awarded the UCLA ICON Award for Visionary Leadership in Business and Philanthropy.

In 2012, Reb Shlomo Yehuda and his wife were honored with the Chabad Annual Convention Charity Award for helping to rescue the West Coast Chabad.

On August 1, 2012 Reb Shlomo Yehuda was honored as the keynote speaker of the 12th Siyum Hashas of Daf Yomi at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

In November 2013, Reb Shlomo Yehuda was honored at the 12th annual Eagle & Badge Foundation Gala for his commitment to sending $10,000 to the families of each California police officer that fell in the line of duty.

  2. LA has become the center of tzedaka in the world due to Reb SYs non stop tzidkus and never ending help that his massive heart has and what he stands for and lives for. The world is a better place because of him. We love you
