candle-small5We regret to inform you on the passing of Reb Shmuel Goldstein, well known Boro Park askan.

A mispalel of the 16th Avenue Agudah, for many years he operated the Goldstein Press print shop on 16th Avenue. He passed away today at the age of 83 after a short illness.

He leaves behind his wife Toby; children, Ari, Hillel, Akiva, Esther Goldwasser, Shamai, Daniel and Dinah Rosenberg; brothers Rabbi Shlomo of Baltimore, Rabbi Yossi, former principal of Bais Yaakov Elementary School of Boro Park, Rabbi Dovid Goldstein of Tzefas and a sister, Morah Dinah Rosengarten.

The levaya will be held Monday morning at 9 A.M. at Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park.Shiva will be observed at the home of the niftar, 5107 14th Ave.

  1. i have great childhood memories of him… we would wait for the schoolbus to yeshiva outside his store and he would give us papers and stickers… bd”e

  2. What a terrible loss to klal yisroel. Yes, I say Klal Yisroel because he was a youth leader in boro park years ago to many of todays outstanding Roshey Yeshiva and manhigim when they were young and vulnerable to outside influences. He imbued within all of them a love for learning torah shmiras Shabbos and shmiras mitzvos. He did that with his story telling lollipops and cupcakes. If only todays baalei batim would learn from him that you don’t have to be a Rosh Yeshiva or a Rav of a shul to effect children positively, all you have to do is care and designate some time and energy towards this goal and a great change will take place to our youth thereby helping to eliminate much of the difficulties we are having with some of the youth.
