It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Reb Yitzchok (Edwin) Katzenstein z”l of the Washington Heights Breuer’s kehillah in New York. He was 82.

Reb Yitzchok was an accomplished talmid chochom, who was one of the pillars of the Breuer’s kehillah, reflecting the ideals, values and hashkafos of the community, serving in the role of mohel, mashpiah, marbitz Torah and a member of the local chevra kadisha.

The levaya was held at K’hal Adath Jeshurun in Washington Heights on Bennett Avenue, followed by kevurah in New Jersey.

The Katzenstein family is sitting shivah at 730 Fort Washington Avenue, Apartment 1b, in Washington Heights, NY.

Reb Yitzchok is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Katzenstein; his sisters, Mrs. Gittel (Joani) Thau and Rebbetzin Maud Carlebach; and his children, R’ Pinchos Katzenstein, R’ Moshe Yonah Katzenstein, Mrs. Leah Tesser, Mrs. Shully Munk and Mrs. Rochel Stefansky.
