Rebbetzin Aidel Mund a”h, Killed On Way Back from Meron

candleLag Ba’omer ended tragically, as Rebbetzin Aidel Mund a”h was seriously hurt in a car accident on the way home from Meron and was pronounced dead this morning at Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus in Yerushalayim.

Rebbetzin Mund, who resided in Ramat Beit Shemesh Bais, was 76.

Yesterday, shortly after 4 p.m., Magen Dovid Adom received a report of an accident involving two vehicles near the Na’aran Valley.

MDA and Ichud Hatzolah teams provided medical treatment to Rebbetzin Mund and another 6 people who were injured lightly.

The Rebbetzin was taken to the hospital in moderate condition accompanied by her husband. When she arrived at Hadassah Hospital after about an hour of driving, her injuries were then called critical, as apparently her injuries were mostly internal. The morning, she passed away.

The driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old tourist from Canada, was lightly injured and also taken to Hadassah Hospital.

Israeli police said that the cause of the accident is not clear.

Rebbetzin Mund was a daughter of the Shatzer Rebbe of Montreal zt”l. Her husband, Rav Shlomo Leib Mund, led a shul in Montreal before he and his wife moved to Ramat Beit Shemesh, where he leads Kehillas Kosson.

The levaya was held today at the Sanhedriya Bais Halevayos and passed the Belzer Bais Medrash in Kiryas Belz on the way to the bais hachaim.

Yehi zichrah boruch.

At the scene of the accident:

  1. Boruch Dayan Ha’emes. Sad. Tragic. 🙁

Her husband, Rav Shlomo Leib Mund, led a shul in Montreal before he and his wife moved to Ramat Beit Shemesh, where he leads Kehillas Kosson.

He also had an illustrious career in chinuch. He also was a big posseik

  2. I was their neighbor in Montreal for many years.
    What a special Rebbitzen.
Really, like from the “Alteh Haim”
When we moved to Barclay, she made us a kugel every erev shabbos for a month.
Btw, she knew every single haftorah by heart word for word!
    Does anyone know Lazer’s number?

  3. The Toronto kehilah is deeply shocked & saddened by this tragedy. May Hashem give nechama & chizuk to Feivy & Mrs. Adler along with the rest of their families.

  4. Yehi Zichro Booruch!

As others have posted, a real old time rebbitzin.

She knew Tnach bal peh. You could ask her anywhere in Tnach and she’d bs able to tell you where it is and continue from there.

A true loss of an old time Melimedes.

  5. I knew her personally, and I can attest to the fact that she was brilliant. She knew the entire tanach by heart, not to mention a nice bit of gemarah as well.
She was a true eishis chayil, and a very caring person.
What a loss for all of klal yisrael.

  6. Rabbi Mund davens in Kosson, he is not the Rov there. The Rov there is Rabbi Rottenberg, Rebbetzin Mund a”h’s cousin.

  7. Rebbezin Mund, was very, very special in a tzneous, quiet way,she always went out of her way to make other people happy, she came to our Bar mizva at 5am ,because we daven vasiken, not only that but she walked almost 1 hour to get there ,this was last year.We will miss her very much, may she now sit with all the tzadikkim in Gan Aden.

  8. The rebbetzin was an amazing person. She was very kind and had a phenomenal memory. Even when others forgot she would always remember special dates. She was a true eishis chayil. She always made unique and gourmet dinners. Dearest relatives, know that we all loved rebbetzin Mund and we all feel your loss. BD”E

  9. BDE..
May her neshama have an aliyah.
Condolences to Feivi Mund, his wife, children, and all his family.
You are, as always, in my thoughts and prayers.

  10. BDE to the Rebbetzin. I had the great pleasure to meet her once in Montreal. But her husband Shlomo is far from a Rabbi, Rav or Posek. He was expelled from the Hassidic community in 2002 for sexual misconduct with 21 women and was was quickly relieved as a Rosh Yeshiva of a girls school, when complaints of inappropriate behavior towards the girls were registered. The Beth Din, in a decision against Shlomo Mund, clearly writes he is not to act as Rav in any capacity; this document was suppose to be transmitted to the communities in Beit Shemesh.
