candleLag Ba’omer ended tragically, as Rebbetzin Aidel Mund a”h was seriously hurt in a car accident on the way home from Meron and was pronounced dead this morning at Hadassah Hospital on Mount Scopus in Yerushalayim.

Rebbetzin Mund, who resided in Ramat Beit Shemesh Bais, was 76.

Yesterday, shortly after 4 p.m., Magen Dovid Adom received a report of an accident involving two vehicles near the Na’aran Valley.

MDA and Ichud Hatzolah teams provided medical treatment to Rebbetzin Mund and another 6 people who were injured lightly.

The Rebbetzin was taken to the hospital in moderate condition accompanied by her husband. When she arrived at Hadassah Hospital after about an hour of driving, her injuries were then called critical, as apparently her injuries were mostly internal. The morning, she passed away.

The driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old tourist from Canada, was lightly injured and also taken to Hadassah Hospital.

Israeli police said that the cause of the accident is not clear.

Rebbetzin Mund was a daughter of the Shatzer Rebbe of Montreal zt”l. Her husband, Rav Shlomo Leib Mund, led a shul in Montreal before he and his wife moved to Ramat Beit Shemesh, where he leads Kehillas Kosson.

The levaya was held today at the Sanhedriya Bais Halevayos and passed the Belzer Bais Medrash in Kiryas Belz on the way to the bais hachaim.

Yehi zichrah boruch.

When we moved to Barclay, she made us a kugel every erev shabbos for a month.
Btw, she knew every single haftorah by heart word for word!

May her neshama have an aliyah.
Condolences to Feivi Mund, his wife, children, and all his family.

  10. BDE to the Rebbetzin. I had the great pleasure to meet her once in Montreal. But her husband Shlomo is far from a Rabbi, Rav or Posek. He was expelled from the Hassidic community in 2002 for sexual misconduct with 21 women and was was quickly relieved as a Rosh Yeshiva of a girls school, when complaints of inappropriate behavior towards the girls were registered. The Beth Din, in a decision against Shlomo Mund, clearly writes he is not to act as Rav in any capacity; this document was suppose to be transmitted to the communities in Beit Shemesh.
