It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rebbetzin Esther Yenyta Finkel a”h. She was 96 years old.
Rebbetzin Finkel was the wife of Rav Beinish Finkel zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Mir Yerushalyim.
Born in Vilna, her father was Rav Shmuel Greineman, who was a talmid of the Chofetz Chaim and author of Sefer Chofetz Chaim Al Hatorah.
She emigrated to Eretz Yisroel in תרצ”ו and her shidduch was made by her uncle, the Chazon Ish.
Throughout her life, she stood at the side of her husband, Rav Beinish, who succeeded his own father, Rav Leizer Yudel Finkel, in heading the Mir. Rav Beinish was later succeeded by his son-in-law, Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel.
She was a sister to Rav Shmaryahu Greineman zt”l, Rav Chaim Shaul Greinman zt”l and Rav Meir Greineman shlit”a.
This very evening, the Rebbetzin’s grandson, Rav Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, is celebrating the wedding of his daughter at the new dining room of the Chevron Yeshiva in the Givat Mordechai section of Yerushalayim. The chosson is Bentzion Genuth, son of Rav Yitzchok Meir Genuth.
The levaya will be held tomorrow, Monday, at noon, at Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim.
