Rebbetzin Ruchie (Rachel) Ehrentrau, 84, wife of the former Av Beis Din of the London Beis Din, Dayan Chanoch Ehrentrau, was named by Queen Elizabeth II to receive the “Order of the British Empire” medal for her chesed work, the Jewish Weekly reported.

For the past thirty-two years, she has spent Sundays visiting patients at Hampstead’s Royal Free Hospital as a chaplain. She is also one of those behind the Neshei group where over a hundred elderly, disabled people and Holocaust survivors meet to socialize and hear shiurim.

Bais Hamedrash Beis Yisrael of Shirehall Park, Hendon, where Dayan Ehrentrau has served as rov since 1984 wished her “Many more years of good health to carry on her wonderful work and expressed the need that she should continue to inspire the community through her exemplary acts of chessed and kiddush Hashem which are always carried out with her unique charm and genuine warmth.”
