It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rebbetzin Laya Kresiwirth a”h of Lakewood, NJ.

Rebbetzin Kreiswirth was the wife of Rav Dov Zvi Kreiswirth, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Toras Chaim in the Romema neighborhood of Yerushalayim and son of Rav Chaim Kreiswirth, renowned gaon, rov of Khal Machzikei Hadass of Antwerp, Belgium, and founding rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Mercaz HaTorah in Yerushalayim.

Rav Dov Zvi is also the rov of the Derech Chaim and Meir kehillos in Har Nof, Yerushalayim.

The rebbetzin was a daughter of the Pittsburgher Rebbe, Rav Avrohom Abba Leifer zt”l.

The rebbetzin was a noted mechaneches, teaching at Bais Kaila High School in Lakewood, where she imbued her talmidos with the values of a generation gone by and the hashkafos that she learned from her illustrious father, while showering her charges with boundless warmth and love.

The rebbetzin‘s home was open to one and all, as she welcomed every visitor and guest with her characteristic charm and positivity.

For years, the rebbetzin hosted her mother-in-law, Rebbetzin Sarah Kreiswirth a”h, in her home in Brook Hill Estates in Lakewood, until her petirah at the age of 91. Rebbetzin Sarah, the wife of Rav Chaim Kreiswirth and a daughter of the renowned mashgiach of Slabodka, Rav Avrohom Grodzensky zt”l, received phenomenal care from the rebbetzin, who truly treated her like her very own mother.

The rebbetzin was renowned for her warm personality and for her devotion to her husband. She touched all those who were fortunate to meet her, and inspired others by her phenomenal dedication to her choshuve husband, allowing him to engage in his harbotzas haTorah and numerous chesed endeavors, while holding down the home fort.

Her love and sensitivity to every person were constantly on display, as she greeted all the people who came into contact with her with genuine ahavas Yisroel.

The levaya will take place at 3 p.m. at the Bais Shalom Bais Medrash of Beth Medrash Govoha, located at Ninth Street between Madison and Clifton Avenues, in Lakewood. Kevurah will take place at the bais hachaim off of East Seventh Street in Lakewood.
