Record 70,000 Attend Mass Birchas Kohanim at the Kosel

[Video and photos below.] A record 70,000 Yidden arrived at the Kosel today to attend Birchas Kohanim. Police were on high alert and many officers were deployed throughout the allies of the Old City leading up to the Kosel.

Among those in attendance were Israeli Chief Rabbis Rav Shlomo Amar and Rav Yonah Metzger, Kosel Rov Rav Shmuel Rabinovich, and MK Eli Yishai among others.

The Birchas Kohanim this past Sukkos was said to be the 100th mass Birchas Kohanim at the Kosel, which is held twice a year, on Chol Hamoed Sukkos and Chol Hamoed Pesach. The bi-annual event was started decades ago by R’ Menachem Mendel Gefner zt”l and is always held the second day of Chol Hamoed in Eretz Yisroel.
