A barrage of 25 rockets was fired from the Gaza Strip towards a number of Israeli communities adjacent to the border early Tuesday morning, with two rounds of red alert sirens sending residents scurrying for shelter as tensions continued to flare on the volatile border.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted most of the 25 mortar shells fired in the initial barrage. Other rockets fell inside Israeli territory, hitting at least two communities in Israel’s southern Eshkol regional council.
