After thirty years of marriage, Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Peretz and his wife, Sima, have welcomed their first child, a daughter, born at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim.

Both 49 years old, Reb Yitzchok Meir and Sima are residents of the Givat Shaul neighborhood of Yerushalayim, where they are well-known for providing food and drink for patients at Hadassah Ein Kerem for decades, free of charge.

Every Shabbos, with the help of Rabbi Handler at the hospital, the Peretzes provide meals for patients and family members at Hadassah, bringing, wine, challos and more to those at the medical center. They devoted themselves to this chesed as they waited years – decades – for zera shel kayama.

Their prayers were answered yesterday with the birth of their baby.

A talmid of Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon, Rabbi Reuven Tzvi’eli, related that his rosh yeshiva, Rav Moshe Mordechai Chodosh zt”l, who passed away this year, had a special love for Rabbi Peretz.

“During the Rosh Yeshiva’s hospitalization, Rabbi Peretz helped many of the family members staying by his side, and when Rav Chodosh was saying Birkas Hamazon at the hospital, he davened for Rabbi Peretz and criwd.

“Rav Chodosh’s son, Rav Chaim Aryeh Chodosh, related that not once did his father cry during his difficult illness – except that one time, when he davened for Rabbi Peretz to have children.”

Rav Chodosh zt”l, when he said Birkas Hamazon, recited the Birchas Haoreiach – the bracha said by a guest for a host – as a zechus for Rabbi Peretz, and added a special tefillah for Rabbi Peretz to have a child.

May they have much nachas from their daughter and only simchos in the future.

  1. When one does for others, Hashem does for them. We saw this by Avraham Avinu.
To say that they had a child davka because of Rav Chodosh’s Bracha, is very very disingenuous and hurtful. How do you know it wasn’t because of a Bracha they received from Rav Chaim Kaniefsky? How do you know it wasn’t because of a Bracha they received from Rav Abuchatzaira? How do you know it wasn’t because of a Bracha they received from Rav Gamliel Rabinovitch?
How do you know they didn’t have a yeshua because they remained silent in the face of an insult?
For Matzav to make irresponsible statements like this is very hurtful.

  2. To someone in the parsha…you are making assumptions that they are saying it’s really sure because of that…take a chill…we too experienced a tremendous yeshua in the refuah of a child we were told wouldn’t live through his illness…and afterwards we noted that it could’ve been so my diff things that impacted it…doesn’t have to be one unique thing or any of the above. We know that no tfilas go unanswered and that Hashem didn’t have to wait 30 years for a rav to cry by bentching…I’m really in 30 years they tried everything and every segulah and bracha..and I’m sure none of it went unnoticed in shamayim…kol davar bito…and may all experience the yeshuos they need speedily?

  3. Nobody is saying that it was Davka because of Rav Chodosh’s Tefilos (although I’m sure his Tefilos were Choshuv in Shomayim). The point was that Rav Chodosh was Machshiv Rav Peretz and felt for him to the point that he was Mispallel for him specifically with tears.

A huge Mazel Tov to Rav Peretz, may they have tons of Yiddishe Nachas and continued Simchos.

  4. May all those who are feeling hurt, which is because of their pain and not really because of the article, have very soon similar joy. To the Peretz a huge mazel tov and may they have more children!

  5. I read the article twice and it does not state anywhere that the birth of this child is attributed “davka” to the brocha of Rav Chodosh. It only states that he davened and cried when davening for them.

YHI ROTZON SHEHYIGADLAH L’TORAH ULBEN TORAH U’LCHUPAH U’LMAASIM TOVIM!

  6. When I was stuck in the hospital with a relative , I was so grateful for this service that As hakorat hatov i asked Sima for her name for davening. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to do so. I’m sOo happy to hear she gave birth. She should shep harbeh nachos from this daughter. I hope she will be able to continue her works at the hospital. By the way, while Sima and her husband did the service of being there and serving every shabbos, other people behind the scene paid for it. Those that financially supported it should have bracha too!
