peter-kingRep. Pete King (R-N.Y.), the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said Sunday that Presidents Obama and George W. Bush both deserve credit for Osama bin Laden’s death.

“I commend President Obama on the announcement of the killing of Osama bin Laden,” King said in a statement following Obama’s announcement that U.S. forces killed the man behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

“Today, the American people have seen justice. The leader of the United States’ top enemy has gotten what he deserves for orchestrating the deaths of nearly 3,000 innocent Americans on September 11, 2001,” he added.

King, a frequent critic of Obama’s national security policies, said that Bush deserves equal credit for beginning the U.S. “War on Terror” following the 2001 attacks.

“In 2001, Bush said ‘we will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.’ President Bush deserves great credit for putting action behind those words. President Obama deserves equal credit for his resolve in this long war against al-Qaeda,” he said.

The New York Republican also commended the “countless brave men and women who have served around the world in this War on Terror” for their “tireless work.”

  1. Yankel whats the opposite world? President set into place a system of pursuing terrorism and Obama has to some extent continued it (with his changes of course). Also, in general though Obama deserves credit both him or McCain had he won in 08 wouldnt get all the credit its also the intelligence in the field and the general military presence in Afghanistan which has pressured al qaeda

  2. Shmuel ill help you with the arithmetic its quite simple:
    Bush X 8 years = 0 dead osamas.
    Obama x 2.5 years = 1 dead Osama.

  3. Bin Laden has been eliminated on his watch, not Mr. Bush’s. Of course it won’t put an end to all terrorism, but it does restore some of the credibility that Mssrs. Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney lost for us.
