Chris Christie has expressed to President-elect Donald Trump his interest in the job of Republican National Committee chairman, Politico reported today.
The New Jersey governor reportedly told senior members of the Trump transition team that he would like the gig, three sources told the D.C.-based news outlet. Christie became a prominent Trump surrogate following his own exit from the GOP primary, but their relationship took a public tumble last month when the governor was replaced by Vice President-elect Mike Pence as the lead transition official.
The conviction of several of his New Jersey allies in the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal seemingly further tainted his chances of attaining a high-level role in the Trump administration. Read more at POLITICO.
