health-insurance-obama-careThe main contractor for the Obamacare website warned it wasn’t ready to go online almost a full month before the disastrous Oct. 1 rollout, CNN reports.

According to a confidential document dated Sept. 6, CGI warned of “outstanding issues currently being mitigated” with the website, saying the impact was “significant.”

The document says the time allotted for testing was “not adequate to complete full functional, system, and integration testing activities.”

CNN notes that the document says of another element, “not enough time in schedule to conduct adequate performance testing.” Read more.

  1. These guys signed a contract obligating themselves to have the project done by a certain date. Unfortunately, nobody doing business with the government seems to take such contracts seriously, especially people in information technology. It’s just assumed that deadlines can be indefinitely extended and cost overruns will get paid. They lowball the estimate, knowing that they won’t be able to perform as they promised. There should be an across-the-board reevaluation of how contracts are managed. If contractors are required to meet their own cost overruns and pay a penalty if they don’t meet deadlines, you’ll hear a lot less complaining about government services.

  2. This is but the latest example of bureaucratic bumbling.

Things were working okay before the government started mishing arein into the health care business.

Now today the Democrats are blaming the insurance companies for cancelling health policies! If the government had not gotten involved in the first place, none of this balagan would be occurring now.

We are paying dearly literally with our blood (for who knows how long) for re-electing absolutely the worst Dictator in American history.

  3. Sorry, Oldtimer but anyone dealing with the government knows that user specs are changing constantly which is what enables the contractors to hike the price. This wasn’t a low-ball price anyway, there was plenty of profit built in. The specs changed drastically even a few months before rollout, leaving no time for development and testing.

It’s simply a case of government ineptitude exacerbated by the fact that this administration never built anything and is all theory-based. I’m sure we haven’t seen the worst of this product yet.

  4. What do you want from a french canadian firm who is using a 10 year old program, and the person the head of all of this is Michell Obamas school friend. Even a 5 year old program is slow now, what do you what from an archaic computer program 10 years old?
