hadassimReports of a hadassim shortage in the United States is exaggerated, Matzav.com has learned, but some hadassim sellers are facing difficulties after authorities have confiscated various shipments of hadassim from Eretz Yisroel. There are conflicting reports in the Israeli chareidi media as to exactly how many hadassim have not been allowed into the US, but it is believed to be in the tens of thousands. In New York, many shipments have been returned to Israel after U.S. authorities said they were unfit for entry into their country due to infestation and other concerns, according to a Ladaat report.

Nevertheless, a prominent seller of Daled Minim told Matzav.com that he does not believe that recent events will affect the prices of hadassim or their availability significantly.

  1. Here we go again, every year there is some shortage of something, makes you wonder if it is being done intentinally in order to drive up the price

  2. Quite often the mochrei esrogim put out stories of spoilage, hortages, etc., which are false.
I think almost every year for at least the past 40 years I’ve heard these stories.

    So nothing new here.
