Matt BevinRepublican candidate and Tea Party favorite Matt Bevin was elected Kentucky’s next governor Tuesday, becoming only the second Republican to win the state’s highest office in 40 years.

Bevin, a relative political novice, defeated Democrat Jack Conway to replace outgoing Gov. Steve Beshear, also a Democrat.

Bevin fiercely opposed his predecessor’s expansion of Medicaid under President Obama’s health care law and initially vowed to reverse the expansion, but later said he would simply stop enrolling new people. Read it at New York Times.
