susan-rice-un-ambassador-to-unOne of the core members of President Obama’s inner circle, NSA director Tom Donilon, is resigning, White House officials said Tuesday. President Obama plans to replace him with Susan Rice, the United Nations ambassador.

Rice’s appointment is likely to cause some waves in Washington, since she had been roundly criticized by Republicans for spreading talking points that were later discovered to be wrong after the attack in Benghazi that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans. She had been rumored to become the next Secretary of State, but Republicans vowed to block her nomination-although it appears the White House is getting the last laugh, since the NSA chief does not need Senate confirmation. Read more at The New York Times.
